Pierce engages a
registered structural engineer to design and certify the foundation plan for each
home. Soil conditions of the lot, drainage, topography etc are taken into account as
the foundation is designed. Based on this technical data, the engineer determines the
thickness of the concrete floor, width and depth of the concrete beams and how far apart
they should be spaced, how large the post tension cables should be and where they should
be placed.
The photo illustrates a foundation
placement underway. Per the engineers design, the beams have been excavated, the
plumbing is in place and the post-tension steel cables have been installed. A
black poly vapor barrier has been installed to minimize moisture. The site is ready
for the builder and the city building inspector to review the foundation components to
insure all items are installed correctly. |
