Plumbing, Electrical and Ducts Can Reduce the Stength of Some
Floor Systems
The photo illustrates
how a four inch plumbing line can weaken a continuous truss joist. Cutting a hole
for a ten inch air conditioning duct reduces the structural integrity of the floor system
even more than the four inch hole that was cut for the plumbing.. This is one of the
reasons architects and
engineers prefer the Web Truss Joist system. See the next two sections which shows
how all the electrical, plumbing and air conditioning ducts can be easily installed using
the Web Truss system without cutting holes which weaken the flooring system
