Does the home builder you are
considering specialize in designing and building custom homes?
Does your home builder have staff
architectural and interior designers to assist you in your needs?
Prepare a written summary of the
features you would like in your dream home and give it to your builder. (Many home
builders have a standardized form to guide you in the process.)
Provide your builder with photos of
elevations so the proper architecture can be determined prior to starting the design of
the floor plan.
Visit your home builders model show
homes plus new home construction in progress in respective communities. Relay to
your home builder the items you like and dislike in the homes you have visited.
Inform your home builder of the things
you like and the things you do not like in your existing home. Your home builder can
make adjustments in your new home to emphasize the things you like and avoid the things
you do not like.
Provide your builder with the size of
the rooms you think you must have so the home will be large enough for your family.
Establish the price range, architectural style and interior finish level. The home
builder should now be in a position to present a design to you for your approval that will
include the items you want and need and one that is within your budget.
