Energy Efficiency - Air Barriers

Considerable effort is made in all Pierce Energy Efficient homes to provide for a continuous air barrier between the interior and exterior environments. Pierce uses triple sealing techniques where the sealing is performed at three stages of construction.



The first sealing is performed after the framing and rough plumbing as shown in these photos. The second sealing is performed after sheetrock is installed and the third sealing is performed after plumbing and electrical top-out.



The majority of this effort is not visible to the home buyer as the sealing is "covered up" with sheetrock, carpet and trim plates. However the Pierce home buyer can be assured that the sealing has been throughly and completely performed, which is further confirmed independent inspectors and by blower door testing when the home is completed.
